Girl up in smoke.

Timed Out.

Daily writing prompt
Do you need time?

Of course I need time… who doesn’t? Especially now.

I think everyone understands this overbearing, suffocating feeling that you’re going to run out of time and there’s nothing you can do about it. That feeling you get when you wake up and all you can feel is the weight of all the things you have to do, paired with all the things you want to do.

And that doesn’t even begin to touch on the time you have to account for in relation to others. Time you want back with them, time you wish you could re-do so you or they could make a better or different decision.

Love, grief, longing, anger, regret. They all relate to time. And the biggest kicker is, even though you know deep down you NEED more of it, more will never come. So you gotta just work with what you have.

This song has become really important to me because the first and last lines are essentially the foundation you always have to keep close when you regard time.

“Life can be a drag, but you can’t drag it backwards.” “Time won’t stop, it keeps on ticking.”

There’s always something to do, something to remember, something to forget, something to wish for, something to watch, something to read, and something to keep track of. Even someone with all the time in the world couldn’t get it all done.

Honestly, sometimes it’s not that you need more time because a lot of us (including me) have already used the time we had doing something that didn’t fulfill you or something that you felt like you had to do. I don’t think getting more time and using it the same way is helping anyone.

All that to say, I think the better question is what do you want to do with your time. Cause everyone needs more time, that goes without saying. Time can give you life or time can kill you, and it’s all about what you do with it.
